Though this may seem like "overkill", this test will
allow you to "calibrate" the scale on your jointer.
With the A-LINE-IT assembled as shown in the photo to the left, "zero"
the dial indicator on the outfeed table of the jointer.
Lift the tip of the indicator, and slide the A-LINE-IT to position the
tip of the indicator on the infeed table of the jointer.
When you release the tip of the indicator, and lower it onto the infeed table,
the reading (which will be below the initial zero) will show you the difference
in position between the two tables. To assist those of you who are not familiar
with using a dial indicator, you should refer to the decimal-to fraction conversion
chart below to determine exactly what these readings mean. Once you have found
the fractional equivalent, you can adjust the scale or pointer on your jointer
to calibrate the readings.
